General Information
How to Help Your ChildThere are many ways you can assist your child at home. Encouraging your child to teach you what they learned in school that day, having them read to you (the words they know) when they bring books home, and exposing them to oral French media (ex: CD on tape, TFO television, French language option of a favourite DVD) are all great ways to get started! Be sure to check your public library for their selection of french resources.

We will also be investigating people and the environment in Ontario, and how the natural features of the environment can affect the way we live (employment, settlement) and how our use of the land may alter the environment.
Science
Science will be broken down into 4 main strands.
- exploring growth and changes in plants, and investigating the importance of plants and how we can protect them.
- investigating structures and what makes them strong and stable.
- looking at different types of forces, and how they cause movement, including how natural forces can have a significant impact on humans and the environment.
- learning about the composition of soil and how it is essential to life, as well as how our interactions with soils can cause positive or negative changes.
Our essential for grade 3 is “Who is the Holy Spirit?”. Our religion program will treat this question as we investigate what it means to be a Catholic community and as we dive deeper into our faith.
Fully Alive is the Family Life Program. It focuses on the ordinary experiences of daily life. Fully Alive is organized around five themes: Created and Loved by God, Living in Relationship, Created Sexual: Male and Female, Growing in Commitment, and Living in the World. A letter describing each unit will be home informing you of what we will be learning.
