Hello everyone,
I can't believe we are halfway through the school year! This year seems to be flying by, and we have another busy week ahead. Here is our schedule for this week: Monday - Day 2 - Class prize - electronics & games permitted at school Tuesday - Day 3 Wednesday - Day 4 - *Borrow-a-books are due* No library this week due to Grad Photos. Science Tests for both grades. Thursday - Day 5 - National Wear a Sweater Day (Eco-Team initiative) Friday - Day 1 - Gregg Le Rock Concert (AM). Donations for Mardi Gras school fundraiser will be collected (our class theme is movie night, but monetary donations are also welcome and will be used towards the purchase of gift-basket items). The gift baskets are raffled off at the fundraiser event. Our words of the week are:
Here is some of what we will be learning: French - Both grades will be taking a break from phonemics this week and we will be working on a descriptive writing piece. We will be learning how to add details to our work to make what we say more specific, and how we can add adjectives to describe nouns. Math - we are continuing with patterning this week, with a focus on growing, shrinking, and number patterns. Science - we will be doing some review as both grades will be having their science test on Wednesday. Religion - Last week, the students individually brainstormed peacemaking scenarios, and then got into small groups where they shared their ideas and selected one to base a skit upon. We went over strategies for working peacefully in a group (like compromising), and students did a great job at working together. This week, they will be presenting their skits, and if time permits, we will move on to talk about reconciliation and forgiveness. |
