Our words of the week are:
Here is some of what we will be learning: French - We will be finishing our unit on autobiographies this week. Math - We will be finishing up our unit on fractions. Fractions of a set took a little bit longer than expected, so this week we will explore mixed numbers (e.g. 5 half sandwiches is equal to 2 1/2 sandwiches). Instead of a test, next week students will be completing a cumulative task on money and fractions. Students will be able to reference all previous work and anchor charts to help them complete the task. Social Studies - We will be taking up the science test on Monday, and then will move on to an introduction to our social studies unit, Canada between 1780-1850. This unit will focus on the indigenous groups and pioneers that lived during this era. Our trip to Pickering Museum Village will help students gain a first-hand experience on what life was like during this time period, which will help serve them in understanding the unique challenges the pioneers faced. Religion - We will be learning about Halloween through a Catholic lens this week, exploring how the traditions and symbols began. We will also learn about All Saints Day. |
