I hope you all enjoyed your weekend! Here is our weekly schedule: Monday - Day 5 - Grade 3s have swim to survive Tuesday - Day 1 - Shrove Tuesday Wednesday - Day 2 - Ash Wednesday - Liturgy in gymnasium at 9:00am, parents and family are welcome to attend. *Borrow-a-books are due* Thursday - Day 3 Friday - Day 4 - *Library Book exchange* Our words of the week are:
French - the grade 2s will be learning the sound "p, pp" in the story "Pierre Panda." We will also look at how to change the singular into plural. The grade 3s will be continuing to make and verify predictions, check understanding, and make connections while reading several more autobiographies. Math - As we continue with our measurement unit, we will be looking at mass and then beginning to learn to tell time. Time can be a difficult concept for students to grasp, and it is one that you can easily practice at home. Both grades will be using digital and analogue clocks; however, the grade 2s will only be learning to tell and write time to the nearest quarter-hour, whereas the grade 3s will be learning to tell and write time using analogue clocks to the nearest 5 minutes, and digital to the minute. Science - Both grades will be finishing up their current science units this week. The grade 2s will be learning why it is important to save water, and how to cut back on wasting water in their daily routine. The grade 3s will be creating posters encouraging people to compost. Both grades will be completing a review this week, and we will be having a test late this week or early next week, depending on how long it takes to finish up. I will send home a note this week to firm up. Religion - we will be learning about Lent this week and we will brainstorm things we can give up, or good deeds we can do during the Lenten season. |
