Hello everyone,

Please make sure your child has appropriate outdoor wear* Celebration of Learning Assembly @ 2:15pm, Wear Pink for Anti-Bullying Thursday - Day 3 - I will be out of the classroom at a workshop Friday - Day 4 Our words of the week are:
Here is some of what we will be learning: French - We will be doing a reading comprehension activity for Carnaval de Quebec and learning the irregular verb "vouloir." Math - We will be focusing on time this week. In grade 3, students need to read time to the nearest 5 minutes and solve problems involving elapsed time (duration). This is a great skill to practice at home (especially if you have an analogue watch or clock). Ask your child simple questions like, "What time is it now?," "What time will it be in 40 minutes from now?," "We started watching the movie at 6:10pm. It is now 8:00pm. How long was the movie?" Science - We will learn how particle size affects the spaces inbetween particles. These spaces are important in terms of drainage for soil. We will compare the different particles and the drainage that they offer for plant roots that need both air and water to survive. Additionally, we will learn about the three types of soil. Religion - It is Stand Up to Bullying Week at St. James. We will be watching the film Wonder this week to focus on anti-bullying. Please see the note that was sent home on Friday for more information. |
